Tender description
In the course of repairing, cleaning and maintaining vessels in the Boat Repair Building, significant amounts of dust/ debris are generated and accumulate on all surfaces within the building. The current volume of dust/ debris is excessive as the last major cleaning project was in 2012. This dust/ debris is considered to be hazardous and contaminated. For this reason the Department have conducted analysis of the dust which forms part of the Tender Document (Appendix P). All surfaces including but not limited to the following: Ledges, crevices, floors, panels, pipework, purlins, beams, frame bracings, cable trays, trunkings, light fittings, sockets, louvres, rails, walls, ceilings, all fittings, connections and ducting in the Main Boat Shed, Toilet Block, Plant Room, Chimney and Extractor Fan Area; including every surface in the Boat Shed, Toilets, Plant Room and around the Chimney. The BRB doors are to be cleaned and must remain closed at all times. At no time are the electrical controls on the 22.00m doors to be touched. As explained throughout these documents, the dust is to be removed followed by wet wipe cleaning and drying and no surfaces are to be damaged in the process. The cleaning process should limit the amount of dust raised by the works which should be managed in the Risk Assessments and Methods of Works. The existing extraction system used within the Boat Shed can be used by the Contractor and provides three air changes per/ hour. This will be available throughout the works and can be used as part of the Contractors Risk Assessments and Methodology.
