Tender description

This ‘market sounding’ exercise is issued by London Underground’s (LU) Engineering Vehicle Projects team and seeks to obtain market feedback to support the development of a long-term strategy for the London Underground Battery Locomotive fleet. This exercise includes a questionnaire to verify our understanding of the existing capabilities of the supply market, the new systems that could be applied to the Locomotive fleet and to provide an opportunity for suppliers to contribute to the strategy development process. The objectives of this market engagement exercise are to: • To assist LU in determining the best options for improving and adapting the existing locos to the new operational need • Understand the needs for space • Understand the possibility of using a safe wireless solution • Determine what the interface requirements might be. • Identify additional potential business benefits that could be achieved from a modern Through Control system.
