Tender description

National strategic salt storage contracts for the North West, North East and Southern England. Highways England is responsible for managing the national salt reserve on behalf of the Department for Transport. Under the current arrangement Highways England stores the salt at five locations around England: Ellesmere, Garston, North Killingholme, Sharpness and Ridham sites. In the event of a prolonged and severe winter this salt would be made available to local highway authorities. The subject of this procurement is the storage arrangements, stockpile management and sheeting/supply/maintenance, within the North West, North East and Southern areas of England.
