UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will shortly be embarking on an open OJEU procurement to establish a framework contract for design and build construction services to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) which will support the British Antarctic Survey's (BAS) Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP) to deliver a wide range of projects overseas. The framework will be intended to cover 10 years. The estimated framework value is up to a maximum of GBP 500 000 000. Please note there is no guarantee of spend under this framework agreement and all subsequent work will be issued on a call-off basis. Ahead of commencing this procurement, we would like to raise awareness of this project by way of an industry day where we will introduce our plans for the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP). Our hope is that in engaging with industry experts that we can ensure that this requirement is well placed when it hits the market in the near future. Please note that although the place of performance (II.2.3) has been stated as Cambridge, this address is for the BAS Head Office, the works will be mostly be carried out in Antarctica and South Georgia. Ahead of commencing this procurement, we would like to raise awareness of this project by way of an industry day where we will introduce our plans for the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP). Our hope is that in engaging with industry experts that we can ensure that this requirement is well placed when it hits the market in the near future. British Antarctic Survey (BAS) — the Antarctic Modernisation Infrastructure Programme (AIMP) design and build construction services comprise of a number of construction works associated with the introduction into service of a new Aircraft to deliver logistical support to the science research activity of BAS and the modernisation of science research stations as operated by BAS in the polar regions, predominantly in Antarctica and Sub-Antarctica. This modernisation includes an aircraft hangar facility, runway modifications, related offices and other buildings in these regions where scientist research is managed or carried out by British Antarctic Survey and its parent organisations the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Works in scope may comprise some or all of the following and other related works: — new station buildings including laboratories, accommodation and marine facilities at Rothera, Antarctica and on Islands in Sub-Antarctica, other Polar Regions; — renewable energy installations for the decarbonisation of research station facilities, Antarctica and Islands in Sub-Antarctica, other Polar Regions; — new or modified Aircraft hangar at Rothera, Antarctica; — upgrade of aircraft landing strip at Rothera, Antarctica; — waste management facilities, Rothera and Island locations; — the demolition of existing buildings and disposal of waste outside Antarctica; — alteration to science and communications towers and other infrastructure; — warehousing, Antarctica or South Atlantic; — fuel storage facility modification or upgrade, Antarctica or other locations; — associated scoping studies and proof of concept projects. Please note that the Zoom session will be recorded and shared as part of the tender package to ensure all bidders including those unable to make the session are informed of all information covered.
