Who Speclialist Work With The user researcher will support the service manager to ensure that MOD meets its business objectives for enhancing access to historic military service records The user researcher will join a team which includes Service manager, Delivery manager,Delivery manager,Technical architect and developer. The User Researcher will be expected to work with Subject matter experts from MOD Disclosure Branches, Policy Leads and members of the public including key user groups for example, geaneologists. What Specialists Work On User Researcher to work on Request a Historic Service Record Project. Deliverables; identify and engage users (including associated digital users) ; develop, document and exploit personas and user stories, work closely with a Developer and project team to iterate and test prototypes with users and service delivery organisations feeding into product iterations and content development through Beta product development cycles. Ensure compliance with Government Digital Service Standards and GDS Design Manual. Attendance at Service Standard Assessments. Where the Work Takes Place Remote working with travel to York or London and other locations if needed. Early Market Engagement Working Arrangements A typical working day is 9am-5pm (however working outside of these hours may be required due to business/project need). The role is suitable for remote working but there may be travel involved to York, Portsmouth, London or any other regions of the country. Travel expenses outside of the base locations will be covered. Work Location Remote working with travel to York or London and other locations if needed. Security Clearance SC clearance is required Additional T&Cs Cabinet Office (CO) Travel and Subsistence policy will apply. All expenses must be pre-agreed between the parties and must comply with the CO T&S policy. Skills & Experience Experience of agile working alongside a developer and technical architect using user centred design practices to ensure user stories and user research are at the heart of product design. Proven ability to design services to meet valid user needs including planning, designing and conducting usability testing of prototypes. Experience of Mapping user journeys and creating personas. Excellent written and verbal communication including strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence external partners, suppliers and stakeholders. Experience creating and delivering user research sessions and workshops. Experience using analytics , research and insights to make improvements that meet user needs. Experience Delivering outputs in line with Government Digital Service Standard. Ability to Identify isers and potential users of specific, niche services in the public domain (particularly those similar to the military service) and securing their participation in user research. Experience identifying assisted digital users and engaging them to ensure the service is designed to enable maximum digital take up. Proven ability to update user needs and user stories throughout the cycles of iterative product development to feed into prototype development and influence product direction. Nice to Haves Understanding of Government Digital Service Design principles. Experience designing services for GOV.UK. Experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams. Experience of attending GDS Assessments and meeting the criteria for these assessments. No. of Specialists to Evaluate 6 Cultural Fit Criteria Be transparent and collaborative when making decisions. Experience of successful collaborative working as part of a multi supplier delivery team sharing knowledge within the team. Create and maintain an agile working environment. Take responsibility for their work. Can work with clients with low technical expertise. Able to challenge the staus quo and use persuasion skills to achieve business buy -in. Have a no blame culture and encourage people to learn from their mistakes. Bring agile mindset and principles into pratice.
