Early Market Engagement - Who Speclialist Work With You'll be expected to work with the following: - Scrum Master, Service Managers (Product Owners) and Team (incl. BAs, UI/UX, Test Lead, Front End and Full Stack Developers, Ops) Stakeholders such as: - ESR stakeholders (e.g. development team) - Trainees (of the medical, dental, pharmacy and healthcare science profession) - (Hospital) Trust administrators and managers - Business Managers and subject experts - Others involved in the education and training of the multi-professional healthcare workforce Third party suppliers - Legacy and future suppliers What Specialists Work On A Business Analyst is needed to work in an Agile team on the discovery of user needs, analysis, support solution design, implementation and delivery of a bi-directional interface between Trainees Information System (TIS) and Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system. This expands the functionality of the existing one-way interface and is intended to improve data reliability and accuracy of trainees’ information across both systems. The Business Analyst will assess systems integration aspects; ensure the solution is documented, versioned and designed with platform independence and service evolution in mind to evolve independently from client applications. Skills & Experience • Evidence of experience in Business Analysis - gather needs and analysing information using comprehensive tools and techniques • Evidence of ability to map business processes and data flow from source to target according to the data and development lifecycle • Process re-design and optimisation and mapping of user journeys. Producing As-Is and To-Be business process models • Experience of working with both traditional and modern interfaces and systems integration, to document proposals for possible solutions and drive the solution of choice with the developers and others • Evidence of strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to communicate and build relationships effectively with a broad range of people, both verbal and in writing • Demonstrable experience of working with development teams in an Agile delivery setup, creating BDD style User Stories, maintaining and prioritising Product backlog and roadmap with Product Owners • Demonstrable experience of acting as conduit between development team and stakeholders in translating requirements into both technical and non-technical speak/language to facilitate communications and engagement • Demonstrable experience in writing acceptance criteria, carrying out acceptance testing to validate technical designs and developments • Evidence of experience to map, agree, and document data flows and data ownership for systems integration purposes Nice to Haves • Demonstrable experience of Jira and Confluence • Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, LeSS or other Agile frameworks • Previous experience working with Public Sector clients or the NHS • Experience working with MSSQL or MySQL to query databases • Previous experience working with APIs and microservice-driven applications Work Location This office that this person would work out of is London. The TIS team is geo-located across both London and Manchester. HEE additionally has offices around the country that could potentially also be used for this role if London (or Manchester) did not suit. However, with the current COVID-19 situation, the role would initially at very least be one of working from home, possibly for the duration of the contract. Is there an incumbent? Yes, there is. 2. What are you looking for from a new supplier that the incumbent is not providing? We're looking for the same.All the things (technical and cultural) listed on the description above.Bear in mind that the stage we're at with the piece of work in question is no longer determining scope and beginning the development, but now understanding where we've got to, fitting in with that approach and ensuring the approach we've taken is understood, and can be used by the permanent members of the team, and the ESR team (constructively challenging, proposing critical analysis, and carefully considering the deployment / release / support of the system to users). 3. Is department aware as to whether the incumbent applying for this role? This is an open DOS contract. So whilst the incumbent may apply, we will not know until we are supplied the list of applications on 18-19/06/20. 4. Would incumbent be preferred since they already have experience within your team? They obviously have the advantage of understanding where we are currently at, and have relationships built up with the stakeholders. But at this stage I do not know whether they will chose to apply. So the question may be irrelevant. 5. Does the start date, 1st July, allow for any handover with the incumbent, if they are not successful or do not apply? Unfortunately it does not - however there are permanent staff also working on that area of work, who will be available for discussions and onboarding, of course. 6. Is this role outside of IR35? If you read the advert, it clearly states the answer to your question. 7. How many dev teams are involved and is this a cross-team project? The 'squad' working on the ESR interface is a single squad - currently 6 people, scaling back to 4 from July. This squad works alongside two other squads to make up the TIS development team (c.20 in total). 8. What technology is used? If you read the advert, it clearly outlines the technology used. 9. Have the requirements for the improving of data accuracy and reliability been defined yet? This piece of work interfaces with an external system, outside our direct control. We are able to influence development of that system, but our focus is on ensuring data accuracy from our end is as good as it can be. 10. Will an end user support be required once a solution is delivered? This contract is to continue the development of an interface that is already being piloted (where support for the pilot is needed). Once the contract comes to an end, the permanent members of the TIS team will take on the maintenance, and if necessary further development, along with any support. 11. Is it because the incumbent's current contract has come to an end, or because you have new requirements? Yes, the current incumbent's contract finishes at the end of this month. 12. Is the expectation that if restrictions are lifted the work would be in one of the offices mentioned or would it be optional to work 100% remotely or a mixture? Until the details of what a lifting of those restrictions looks like, it is impossible to say for certain. At this moment in time, it looks probable that for the duration of this contract, we will be looking at remote working. If that changes, then some (to be determined how much, and whether it will be optional) office working may be available. 13.
