Tender description
NHSBT plans to manufacture, freeze and stockpile plasma for fractionation, plus associated test samples (6 mL), frozen in cardboard boxes of 20, barcode labelled for tracking. Rate of manufacture will be of the order of 4 000 per working day at three sites (Manchester, Colindale, Filton), building to a total of 850 K over 12 months, drawing down thereafter over the following 6 months (estimated). Activity will commence with a comparatively low volume, which will increase to full volume over time: First 3 months: 200/day Second 3 months: 2 000/day Thereafter: 4 000/day We assume once we have a contract with the fractionator, that we will no longer need the storage facility, although its possible the fractionator will. We are currently assuming we will ship from manufacturing to storage on a daily basis, to be determined during detailed design and cost analysis (cost of local storage vs cost of shipping). — shipping daily up to 4 000 units plus samples from three manufacturing sites (Colindale, Manchester, Filton) to storage location at -30 C or below; — temperature must not rise above -20 C even during defrost cycles; — plasma unit volume mean around 260 mL, pack dimensions (mm) 200 x 140 x 10, fragile once frozen; — packed in cardboard containers approximately (mm) 450 x 200 x 250 tbd, 20 units per container; — tracking and tracing at container level (barcode enabled); — GMP compliant, hygiene maintained, application of quality system; — secure; — temperature mapped annually, with continuous electronic temperature monitoring. — build up over 12 months to 850 000 units of frozen plasma at -30 C or below, removed over subsequent 6 months, plus associated samples; — temperature must not rise above -20 C even during defrost cycles; — plasma unit volume mean around 260 mL, pack dimensions (mm) 200 x 140 x 10, fragile once frozen; — packed in cardboard containers approximately (mm) 450 x 200 x 250 tbd, 20 units per container; — tracking and tracing at container level (barcode enabled); — recall capability — by container of 20; — GMP compliant, hygiene maintained, application of quality system; — secure; — temperature mapped annually, with continuous electronic temperature monitoring.
