Tender description

It is estimated that there are over 300 bonfires across Northern Ireland in any given year with approximately 131 on NIHE lands in the year 2019/20.These bonfires have the potential to present fire safety concerns, adverse environmental impact and/or attract anti-social behaviour which has can have an negative impact on the lives of those living within the our estates across Northern Ireland. It is estimated that there are over 300 bonfires across Northern Ireland in any given year with approximately 131 on NIHE lands in the year 2019/20.These bonfires have the potential to present fire safety concerns, adverse environmental impact and/or attract anti-social behaviour which has can have an negative impact on the lives of those living within the our estates across Northern Ireland. In order to deal with such bonfires and associated materials, the Housing Executive requires a range of materials to be collected by an external contractor, from the bonfire sites and other locations across Northern Ireland. The following list is indicative (but not exhaustive) of the materials to be removed: • oil tanks; • wood, furniture, pallets; • brick rubble, soil, pottery; • black bags of domestic rubbish; • electrical white goods; • sofas and other household furniture (non wood); • household/car batteries; • mattresses; • car tyres; • fluorescent tubes; • non-combustible material e.g. metals etc.; • bonfire ash and associated waste and other materials; • special/dangerous contaminated waste; • relocation of bonfire material. It is the intention of the Housing Executive to run the tender in one lot. If you feel that it would be better to run as more than one lot please email the contact in II.2.14) and state this.
