Construction work for college buildings

Tender description

The London Aerospace and Technology College (LATC) project is to construct a new build education facility within the boundary of London Biggin Hill Airport (LBHA). This will be an industry standard centre of excellence for STEM education, skills and training. Once complete, LATC will address the shortage of skilled labour in aeronautical industries nationally through new provision at LBHA. By providing aerospace and aviation pathways at LBHA, supported by satellite delivery in Greenwich (close to City Airport in Newham and 15 mins from LSEC Bexley), 490 new entrants to the industry will be enabled annually. The project is part funded by the GLA. The works comprise excavation, piling, steel frame, cladding, curtain walling floor and roof decks, windows and external doors, internal finishes and fit out and external works including hard and soft landscaping as well as a bespoke steel frame and cladded external wing. The contractor will be required to complete all works, manage the site and comply with all the requirements imposed by both LSEC and Biggin Hill Airport. The tender returns are due on the 14 August 2020. Following this tender interviews will be held and once appointed the winning contractor will be required to undergo a design period to finalise the works before contract agreement. The tender will be weighted with Price at 70 % and Quality at 30 % with the successful contractor able to provide a full compliant bid capturing all works and tender deliverables. Failure to provide a compliant tender will result in a null and void tender submission. We will also consider an alternative tender submission as long as a compliant tender is provided. If an alternative tender is submitted, we would expect this to include options such as utilising similar or approved building materials, presenting value engineering opportunities and/or alternative construction programmes.
