Tender description
‘Please see Additional information on VI.3)’ Merseytravel are planning to replace a redundant and obsolete Public Address Voice Alarm System in the Kingsway and Queensway tunnels. Merseytravel are looking to engage a supplier who has experience of the design and implementation of VA system in a road tunnels environment. The supplier will design and build a new VAS for the Kingsway and Queensway road tunnels. The voice alarm system will allow either of the two control centres to provide voice alarm and information during an emergency. The Kingsway tunnel is 1.8 km long and is a double bore tunnel with two, two lane carriageways one in either direction. The Queensway tunnel is 3.2 km and is a single bore tunnel with four lanes of traffic two in each direction. On completion of successful installation commissioning and site acceptance tests the supplier will provide a 3-year support contract to maintain the system through a bedding in period. This will include an option to extend the support period into a fourth year. Merseytravel is the executive body that provides professional, strategic and operational transport advice to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to enable it to make informed decisions. It is also the delivery arm, making transport happen. Merseytravel delivers transport projects that support the economic growth of the city region. The focus is on improving connectivity within the region and beyond, improving the customer experience from ticket buying to journey planning and maintaining the integrated transport network, including the Mersey Ferries and Mersey Tunnels, to ensure it is fit for the future, accessible and safe. The aim is to make that network world class. ‘Please see Additional information on VI.3)’ Merseytravel are planning to replace a redundant and obsolete Public Address Voice Alarm System in the Kingsway and Queensway tunnels.
