Tender description
The Council seeks a suitably experienced organisation to supply Leicester City Council (LCC) with their own dark fibre circuits (‘infrastructure’) to provide connectivity between LCC sites rather than via a third party network. The purpose of the contract is to give LCC unilateral control and virtually unlimited network bandwidth scalability for the future to support the acceleration of the Councils digital vision. As an absolute minimum, the Council expects any solution to be capable of delivering reliable, resilient and continuous ultra-fast and low latency fibre connectivity. The planning, design and construction of the network will be the responsibility of the provider, who will further be responsible for all associated implementation and running costs. The Council is not intending to have any responsibility for supporting the dark fibre network and thus the provider must provide its own maintenance programme to ensure the 24/7 operation of the network. The Council seeks a supplier that has experience of similar deployments including designing and implementing demonstrably innovative dark fibre solutions in other large UK Cities.
