Provision of Fibre Channel Fabric Switches

Tender description

University College Dublin (UCD), IT Services currently use have six Fibre-channel Fabric Switches with two fabrics comprising three switches per fabric. UCD plan on purchasing six new Fibre-channel Fabric Switches to replace our existing switches. There are two different switch types (4x larger capacity Brocade 6510s and 2x smaller capacity Brocade 6505s). The requirement is for a similar switch configuration with an equal (or more) number of useable ports. The switches must come with twelve single-mode SFPs to connect the switches over long-distances. The remaining useable ports must be fitted with multi-mode SFPs. All SFPs must be able to operate at the maximum speed of the switch. The Univeristy is specifically buying Broadcom/Brocade Fabric Switches under this Competition as the new Fabric Switches must be fully compatible with our existing SAN infrastructure. The initial requirement is to procure Six Fabric Switches to replace the existing Switches. The Switches must be supplied with long-wave and short-wave SFPs to replace what we currently have.
