Tender description

Following an independent review in 2018 into homeless hostel services, commissioned separately by Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil Councils the decision was taken to commission a newly coordinated regional hostel service across both local authority areas. There are 40 units in total across the region. Both authorities have 20 units and both provide a 16+ and 18+ provision. The projects will accommodate single homeless people with the aim of: — alleviating homelessness, — support the person to return to their previous home, — help to secure alternative housing such as supported accommodation, shared accommodation or general needs accommodation in the private or social rented sector. All rooms are self contained and will be furnished by the successful tenderer. For further details please refer to the tender documents available of eTenderWales portal The tender is to award a contract to a single provider that will provide hostel services across the RCT and Merthyr region. The contract will be to deliver services in up to four locations initially. Each hostel will be staffed 24/7. Each project will provide a psychologically-informed short-term accommodation and support for both male and female single homeless people and people sleeping rough referred who are either: — eligible for assistance under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014; — awaiting the outcome of their application for assistance under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014; — awaiting the outcome of Family Mediation to enable a return to their previous home; — awaiting the outcome of preventive work.
