Summary of the work Opportunity to work on a Cloud Analytical platform and help build and improve its functionality, robustness and future proof its capability. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length up to 18 months Latest start date Monday 2 March 2020 Maximum Day Rate up to £525 per day, with a total approved budget up to £173.3k Who Speclialist Work With The team is embedded with the Analytical community and serves other external departments, but all users are Analysts (Statisticians, Economists, Operational Researchers and Social Researchers). What Specialists Work On 1. Assess the organisation Analytical platform to provide and advise on the areas to strengthen and make for performant. 2. To seek new Cloud (public or private) functionality and service to help meet growing and future needs. 3. Migrating services and software from different platforms to cloud platforms. Skills & Experience • Have minimum two years demonstrable experience in working in a cloud environment - 12 points • Have minimum five years experience working in technology - 12 points • Evidence of at least one application migration to a cloud environment - 12 points • Experience of working with a Microsoft Windows Server environment (any version) - 12 points • Experience of working with an Ubuntu Linux Server environment (any version) - 12 points • Have experience of working with sensitive and secure data (commercial or personal) - 12 points Nice to Haves • Ubuntu Bash scripting – 10 points. • Powershell scripting – 10 points • SQL query writing/debugging – 4 points • SQL stored procedure writing/debugging – 4 points • Deploying live web applications – 4 points • PHP scripting – 4 points Work Location Westminster, London. Is there a current incumbent? No. 2. Can you please confirm the IR35 status? We have completed the HRMC guidance and this is outside IR35 3. • Have minimum two years demonstrable experience in working in a cloud environmentWhat is the current public cloud environment? We want to recruit a candidate that is not tied a particular cloud platform, so association with current or future platform not relevant. 4. Have minimum five years experience working in technology.Any specific domain of technology? Specific requirements are stated in the requirement pack. No specific domain. 5. May I know the steps post-shortlisting first round? When will the interview be held? When do we send the CV? Once we have shorted listed the candidates we are aiming to interview as soon as possible. CV's should be sent ideally before the interview. 6. Which commercial cloud infrastructure do you intend to use (or is a decision process here part of this effort)? No intention has been made. We are looking at all possible platform. 7. Can we see the infrastructure design for the current platform? No. This is commercial sensitive. 8. Has the infrastructure design for the new platform been determined (or is this part of this effort)? We have an existing platform. 9. What management standards/rules currently apply (resilience, security)? Standards set either Government or by management. 10. Instead of providing a resource, would you consider an outcome-based bid, potentially delivering sooner for the same amount of money or less? We have made our assessment and concluded that DOS was our preferred route.
