STANDBY ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEM UPGRADE AT BEAUMONT HOSPITAL

Tender description

The management of Beaumont Hospital, Dublin (the Hospital) wishes to upgrade the standby electrical power system presently serving the Hospital. The successful tenderer will be responsible for the replacement of the entire, existing standby control system, including associated LV switchgear, with a new standby control system. The existing standby power system consists of two (2) centralised, LV generators, the output of which is stepped up to medium voltage (MV) which is then distributed throughout the site via the normal MV/LV network. The system also includes facilities whereby the output of the standby generators can be distributed directly at LV to the three main LV distribution boards (DBs) that serve the Hospital. The MV route is the normal default arrangement. The system is fully automatic with forward and back mains synchronising facilities at the 10kV main supply intake point. The proposed, new standby power system will, effectively, make the existing LV standby power delivery route the default arrangement with the existing MV delivery route consigned to a manually operated, alternative that will only be used in the event of a failure of the default LV route. The new system will be fully automatic with forward and back mains synchronising at each of the individual, main LV DBs.
