Tender description

YWS manage the collection and distribution of approximately 1 200 000 000 litres of drinking water to over 5 000 000 people in Yorkshire each day; at the same time collecting, treating and disposing safely back into the environment approximately 1 000 000 000 litres of waste water. Scope of activity. The framework aims to cover: Infrastructure construction, renewal, refurbishment and replacement works on both clean and waste networks on below ground assets, typically in public highways, and on 3rd party land; including but not limited to: — trunk main rehabilitation, — mains rehabilitation, — mains laying, — cleaning of mains, — pipe lining, — installation of equipment such as loggers, meters, valves, etc., — replacement of lead pipes, — design and construction of outlets, — sewerage investigation procedures, — emergency works (collapses, etc). Scope of activity shall include (examples, but not limited to): — full compliance with the duties of the principal contractor as defined by CDM Regulations, — full compliance with the duties of principal designer or designer as defined by CDM Regulations where appropriate, — outline design, detailed design, — adoption of outline/detailed designs prepared by others, — temporary works, — preparatory works and site establishment facilities, — provision of plant and equipment, materials, labour, supervision, — supplier/sub-contractor management, — project construction, commissioning and handover, — creation/modification of CAD drawings, — asset data collection, management and submission, — process safety, safety, health and wellbeing, — innovation. — adherence to Civil Engineering Specification for the Water Industry (CESWI) 7th edition, — adherence to Yorkshire Water Engineering Specification (19th edition), — adherence to Clean Water Asset Standards, — adherence to New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), — adherence to Quality Management policies and procedures, — other policies and procedures, — Yorkshire Water Customer facing activity, — carbon management, — working on DOMS. This is water quality work and is usually completed by cleaning and lining the pipe or alternatively renewing the pipe using a mixture of methods, — working on Hydraulic Flooding Solutions. This work is a result of under capacity in our network. Solutions to this could be but not limited to upsizing the pipe, lining, offline storage or a sustainable urban drainage solution (SUD), — growth/maining out. New installation of large diameter pipes across large areas. Installation techniques could be drilling or open cutting, — working on Rising Mains. Replacement or renewal of pressurised waste water pipes, — feasibility studies, — smart networks. The installation of various equipment on the existing network, — site investigation, — risk management, — emergency works, — specialist services associated with project works, — early contractor involvement, — 3rd Party Works. Diversion or new installation of pipework to aid outside construction projects. The scope of services may include: — value management, — costing, — specialist services associated with project works.
