Tender description

The Contracting Authority intends to award a contract for the purchase, installation, commissioning and support of a new network infrastructure (both wired and wireless) for its offices in an acute hospital environment. The requirement encompasses the elements outlined below. Core LAN Switches and Top of Rack (TOR) LAN Switches The successful tenderer will be required to replace the Contracting Authority’s two Cisco Catalyst 6509 core LAN switches and supplement (and ultimately replace) the HPE 5500 switches used to connect to VMware servers. In summary, the scope of this element of the engagement encompasses the purchase of new Core and TOR switches, the installation of new Core and TOR Switches and the decommissioning and removal (to include the potential buyback or trade-in) of old Core Switches. 3.2 Access Switches The successful tenderer will supply new Access Switches (to be installed by Beaumont Hospital staff), which will allow a number of older LAN switches to be decommissioned. The Contracting Authority intends to purchase a sufficient quantity of switches to allow approximately 57 of the existing 187 Access switches to be decommissioned. It is anticipated that the oldest switches (Cisco 2950 and 2960 units) will be decommissioned. In summary, the scope of this engagement encompasses the purchase of new Access Switches and the potential buyback or trade-in of old Access Switches. 3.3 Wireless LAN Equipment and Related Cabling The successful tenderer will assume responsibility for replacing the existing wireless LAN infrastructure and for supplying new cabling for the new wireless Access Points (APs). In summary, the scope of this element of the engagement encompasses the following: • The purchase of new Access Points (APs); • The supply, installation and commissioning of new Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) equipment; • The supply, installation and commissioning of an appropriate Network Management System (NMS); • The provision of CAT 6A cabling to connect to the new Wireless L
