As a civic university, we are committed to delivering benefits to individuals, organisations and to society as a whole. This means putting academic knowledge, creativity and expertise to work; to develop innovations and solutions that make a difference internationally, nationally and locally on matters which affects contemporary societal issues. This requires working across disciplines with colleagues and partners within and beyond the university, the skills to translate research findings into evidence that can inform policy making, the ability to communicate what we do to policy makers and to respond to requests from external partners for bespoke pieces of analysis. Our ambition is to make Newcastle University an exemplar for evidence-based policy making. The scope of this tender is to outline the potential scale, scope, form and functions of a policy and evidence hub that can act as an interface internally and with the outside world to translate our research findings in policy-relevant thematic areas into evidence that is useful and accessible to policy makers locally, nationally and potentially internationally.
