Tender description

When a death occurs in the community that is unexplained, unusual or suspicious, it is referred to the Coroner for investigation. Hampshire County Council released an invitation to tender on behalf of the coroner within Hampshire for the provision of a service to transfer the deceased, where a death has been referred for further investigation. The service includes removal, collection of the deceased and transportation of organs. Transfers will normally be to a mortuary within Hampshire. Transportation will normally be from a medical facility outside of Hampshire to a medical facility within Hampshire. The requirement under Lot 1: urgent removals, is for removals that need to be performed urgently across Hampshire. The coroner within Hampshire searched for a supplier to perform removals and collections of the deceased. For the removals provision, the supplier will perform 24 hours per day, 365 days per year within a maximum of 90 minutes. The collections provision will be performed Monday-Friday within Core Hours. Once removed or collected, on most occasions, the deceased will then be transferred to a mortuary within Hampshire. This Lot 2 covers the New Forest area of Hampshire. The coroner within Hampshire searched for a supplier to perform removals and collections of the deceased. For the removals provision, the supplier will perform 24 hours per day, 365 days per year within a maximum of 90 minutes. The collections provision will be performed Monday-Friday within Core Hours. This part of the service will need to be performed Monday-Friday within Core Hours.
