Highways England is charged with operating, maintaining and improving England's motorways and major A roads. We want to engage with suppliers to inform our approach to procuring our complex infrastructure projects. Highways England wishes to formally make the market aware of potential opportunities in relation to the A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down project which passes through the Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites World Heritage Site (WHS). The project comprises of a new dual, two-lane carriageway approximately 13 kilometres long between Amesbury and Berwick Down consisting of: — a bypass to the north of Winterbourne Stoke with a viaduct over the River Till, — a new junction between the A303 and A360 to the west of and outside the WHS, replacing the existing Longbarrow Roundabout, — a twin-bore tunnel through the WHS and past Stonehenge c.2 miles in length, — a new junction between the A303 and A345 at the existing Countess Roundabout. Highways England commenced an engagement process in 2018 to identify suppliers who are interested in working with us on the A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down project. This is a large and complex project, which will require critical capabilities from balanced, diverse and sustainable supply chain partners. Highways England remains committed and looks forward to talking to all those in the UK, European and International markets who are interested in helping us deliver this project. Highways England intends to use an e-Sourcing portal (Bravo) to communicate and undertake further Market Engagement activities for the above project. Details of any further events will be provided to those registered to this PIN and your comments sought, on more specific elements of the projects. Invites to specialist events will be targeted to suit those relevant specialisms. Collaboration is at the heart of the relationships necessary to deliver at the scale and pace required. Highways England are planning to hold supplier engagement events such as an Interactive webinar session in early 2019 and an Industry day prior to the launch of the procurement exercise. This is to provide an overview of Highways England’s opportunities available to the market related to the A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down project.
