Tender description

Cumbria County Council sees Extra Care Housing as playing a key role in enabling people to maintain their independence and remain in their communities for longer. The Council aims to transform the provision of services for older people across the county by increasing the availability of Extra Care Housing schemes. By facilitating the development of new schemes across a range of tenures, the aim is that by 2025 Extra Care Housing will be a viable option of choice for all older people across the county. The Council’s Extra Care Housing Delivery Programme aims to support partner organisations to develop additional Extra Care Housing services in Cumbria. One of the key strands of this programme is the Extra Care Housing Grant Award Programme which provides an opportunity for developers to come forward with proposals for new Extra Care Housing schemes. If support for capital costs is required, developers can apply directly to the Council for grant funding. A grant will only be made available to support the capital costs of the development of a proposed scheme and cannot be used to support any ongoing requirement for revenue support. Further details can be found within our Grant Prospectus. I am delighted to announce that today the County Council is opening an application window for its Extra Care Housing Grant Award Programme. This application window is open for Expressions of Interest between 04 December 2019 and 10 January 2020 followed by clarification meetings and submission of final applications by 31 January 2020. The application window is targeted specifically for potential developments in Workington and the Council reserves the right to not review applications for developments outside of this area. Full details about the grant award programme (including how to apply, criteria for funding etc) can be found on the Extra Care Housing pages of the Council’s website www.cumbria.gov.uk/healthsocialcare/ech. If you would like to discuss potential schemes or have any queries then please contact the commissioning team at ECH_SLDevelopment@cumbria.gov.uk.” Letter attached.
