Carshalton Conservation area is located in the central geographical area of the London Borough of Sutton. It is an area rich in significant local culture and natural heritage. There has been some desire by the local ward councillors of Carshalton to consider a small scale local heritage trail walking app within the Carshalton Conservation Area, including surrounding Carshalton areas of interest. The basic concept is to develop a number of walking trails (three within Carshalton Central, and two within Carshalton South and Clockhouse, and accompanying children’s trail) which will be embedded on a user friendly, engaging interactive online website experience/offline map of the Carshalton area, with short written descriptions for each site, and a desire to create functional features so that users will find the trail informative and engaging, whilst learning about historical, cultural and biological areas of significance. These functionality features will also allow the user to view site images of the past or listen to stories related to historical sites. In view of the above, London Borough of Sutton is carrying out this soft market testing exercise to gain an insight into the feasibility, practicality and deliverability of this project from the experts in the market. All the information gathered through this soft market testing exercise will inform the final specification for the commission.
