The Essex County Council (ECC) eDBS Service currently processes disclosure and barring service (DBS) checks for internal staff and also provides the service to external customer organisations across the UK. ECC is seeking to replace its current service provision with a service that will include a wider range of pre-employment checks. For further information please see the specification available on the portal. Potential suppliers must be licensed to carry out eDBS checks. The Essex County Council (ECC) eDBS Service currently processes disclosure and barring service (DBS) checks for internal staff and also provides the service to external customer organisations across the UK. The current split of checks is approx. 20 % internal to 80 % external. ECC is seeking to replace its current service provision with a service that will include a wider range of pre-employment checks.The system shall be candidate driven with minimal manual intervention by ECC. This shall include technology which enhances customer experience to ensure we are at the forefront of service provision giving an advantage over competitors such as facial recognition for right to work purposes.The preference is for a cloud-based service with minimal impact on ECC’s infrastructure.
