TRANSFORMING CROYDON’S COMMUNITY FACILITIES

Tender description

Croydon would like to invite specialist consultancies (or consortia) including community engagement specialists, building surveyors, architects and planners to map, assess and analyse the existing community facility landscape in central Croydon, and develop ideas and strategies for improving the current offer of physical spaces, improving accessibility, extending the hours of use, diversifying the range of available spaces and increasing their activation and programming, if possible. In exploring the existing community spaces, there is also a need to identify the gaps in provision so that proposals for new facilities respond to the needs of the growing population. Consideration will need to be given to the ownership and asset management of existing community facilities (the council owns some community spaces but many are in private ownership, albeit sometimes with funding grants and subsidies provided by the council). The analysis is intended to be utilised to develop suitable proposals for the allocation of appropriate capital funding from the Croydon Growth Zone programme, towards improved or increased community facilities to support and enable significant anticipated housing, business and population growth in the town centre.
