NWSSP Procurement Services is issuing this PIN to engage with the market as the Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board has a requirement for a Major Trauma Center Hybrid Theatre and Operating Theatre. As part of the development of the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) for Wales on the University Hospital of Wales site, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board wishes to consider the provision of both a hybrid operating theatre and a trauma operating theatre in close proximity to each other. The hybrid operating theatre would be equipped with advanced multi-modality imaging devices to enable minimally invasive surgery for a variety of clinical applications, principally for vascular and cardiovascular applications but not excluding clinical applications e.g. orthopaedic trauma surgery, laparoscopic surgery and abdominal surgery. Imaging techniques to be considered would include a: fixed C-Arm, rotational angiography, digital subtraction angiography, ultrasound and computed tomography. The advanced post processing and fusion imaging capabilities associated with these imaging modalities are to be considered as part of the solution. The trauma operating theatre would be equipped with advanced 3D fluoroscopy and consideration will be given to providing access to CT via the hybrid theatre equipment. The requirements for the OR table[s] will be determined by the principal use of the room. It is recognised that interventional and surgical requirements maybe mutually exclusive.
