Tender description

The UK Atomic Energy Authority has a requirement for fabricated assemblies for use in the active cells facility of the European Spallation Source and is seeking to engage with industry to further its design/specification document. The centre for Remote Applications in Challenging Environments (RACE) is a subdivision of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) based at Culham Science Centre, Oxfordshire UK. RACE is to develop and deliver a hot cell facility for the European Spallation Source (ESS) which is under construction in Lund, Sweden. The fabricated assemblies for use with this facility consists of two sets of designs: — component support structures — these are simple sets of stainless-steel structures to receive a range of components (ranging between approx. 3 to 15 tonnes, averaging between 4 to 6 m tall) from a crane, support the components stably, and allow the crane to remove them later, — waste storage baskets — these are stainless-steel boxes (approx. 3 m x 2 m x 1 m) with removable lid and sides, revealing a set of internal support frames to allow for component sections to be secured to. This market enquiry relates to the ‘build-to-print’ manufacture, assembly, testing and transportation of the ‘Fabricated Assemblies’ for the active cells, with an indicative list of the required equipment being: — 25 m2 carbon steel floor plates, — 25 m2 thin sheet stainless-steel floor plate liner, — 10 x 0,1 m2 carbon steel square spacer pads, — approx. 20x stainless-steel Component Support Structures, varying in size and complexity, — 1x waste storage basket, including internal component support frames. The details of the project and manufacturing scope can be found in the technical information document. There includes several market sounding questions to promote discussion. Any answers to these from external organisations will be used to help further refine our procurement strategy for this requirement. The link below will take you to a registration system where you will be requested to enter your contact details. Once you have submitted these you will receive an email with a direct link to the documents identified above. http://www.ccfe.ac.uk/TenderDocs.aspx?DocName=ESS_Fabricated_Assemblies.zip Please ignore the wording in the registration system email that implies that this is an invitation to tender. A response to the market sounding questions by 12.11.2019 would be appreciated.
