Tender description

Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), Fire and Escape Systems (FES) team is seeking to engage with potential suppliers to support the design and development of future in-service military and civilian life jacket, flotation and buoyancy systems. This requires an innovative approach to meeting the requirements of the front-line Users across the Air, Maritime and littoral environments whilst also seeking to reduce the complexity and variety of systems in-service. A holistic review of the current in-service water safety equipment is underway to ensure that it continues to minimise Risk to Life (RtL) for those personnel that are dependent on this critical life preservation equipment. The MOD is seeking to ensure that the capability is supported in the most effective and efficient manner. Future systems are to be compatible with both current and future operational needs, with due consideration to legislative requirements such as the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), where appropriate. We intend to hold a market engagement day where potential suppliers will be provided with additional background. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions, network and engage with other potential suppliers as well as to provide feedback on the authority’s approach.
