Maintenance of Mersey Tunnels Cortex Integrated communication system. The Cortex integrated communication control system (ICCS) is used within the Merseytunnels’ combined control room and fallback control room. It is used to control and record communications to the control room from multiple sources. Cortex ICCS integrates with several other systems, including the storm command and control, Alcatel Lucent telephony, Airwave radio and local radio communications systems. Cortex ICCS is a critical system which is integral to the Mersey Tunnels Police operation. The Cortex ICCS was originally selected via a competitive procurement process. As APD are the manufacturer and supplier of the software, they are the only bidder capable for providing support and maintenance services for the system.
