Tender description

This Project represents Phase 2 of a substantial initiative by NUI Galway to develop a commercially viable, modern, appealing and environmentally friendly student accommodation on campus. The development will consist of the design and construction of 674 no. bedspaces in 125 number apartments, generally arranged in clusters of 4-6 en-suite bedrooms, with communal living area in each unit. Further communal areas and facilities, internal plant/service rooms, refuse storage and covered cycle storage facilities are also provided to serve the entire development. This Project represents Phase 2 of a substantial initiative by NUI Galway to develop a commercially viable, modern, appealing and environmentally friendly student accommodation on campus. The accommodation will be delivered on a phased basis with the first phase required for immediate fitout on 1.7.2021 to allow for adequate setup in advance of the start of the new semester in September 2021. The second phase will be required for immediate fitout on the 1.6.2022 to allow for adequate setup in advance of the new semester in September 2022. The proposed development will be located on a green field site north of the existing Corrib village student accommodation (between the Bioscience Research Building and the Park and Ride facility). The development will consist of the design and construction of 674 no. bedspaces in 125 number apartments, generally arranged in clusters of 4-6 en-suite bedrooms, with communal living area in each unit. Further communal areas and facilities, internal plant/service rooms, refuse storage and covered cycle storage facilities are also provided to serve the entire development. The development will be arranged in four blocks with Block A ranging from four to eight storeys, Block B and D comprising 6 storeys and Block C comprising four storeys, with associated courtyards, pedestrian access, vehicular access and dropoff and parking facilities for the less mobile. Vehicular access to the development is via the existing Corrib Village access road. The development will include intensive site landscaping and boundary treatment, footpath links to Campus networks, building signage, connections to services and all associated works. A Single Point Design Team including PSDP has been appointed by NUI Galway (refer to prequalification information memorandum) and will be novated to the Works Contractor at Contract Award Stage.
