Tender description

People with severe mental health problems have low rates of employment. Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is a supported employment model which supports people with serious mental health problems into employment. NHS England transformation funding is being allocated in 2 targeted waves: Wave 1 will support the expansion of well-established, high quality IPS services through 2018/19 and 2019/20; Wave 2 will support increasing provision in other areas that have IPS services which require further development. This contract will support both Wave 1 who are entering their 2nd year of implementation and Wave 2 sites in their first year of implementation. Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is a supported employment model which supports people with serious mental health problems into employment, and is supported by a wealth of international evidence, following the principles of “place and train”. It consists of intensive, individual support, rapid job search followed by placement in paid employment, and time-unlimited in-work support for both the employee and the employer. NHS England have committed to doubling access to IPS for people with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) by 2020/21 as part of their response to the 5 year forward view for mental health recommendations. NHS England transformation funding is being allocated in 2 targeted waves: 1) The first wave will support the expansion of well-established, high quality IPS services through 2018/19 and 2019/20; 2) The second wave of funding will support increasing provision in other areas that have IPS services which require further development, or no current IPS service provision through 2019/20 and 2020/21. This contract should support both Wave 1 who are entering their second year of implementation, and Wave 2 sites in their first year of implementation i.e. runs through the remainder of 2018/19 and throughout 2019/20.
