This research aims to identify important drivers of local innovation activity, both public and private, and estimate the contribution of local innovation activities on local economic growth. The focus of this project is on the modes of innovation that are science based and rest on R&D. Identifying the drivers is important for BEIS and other government departments because with this evidence policy could have a sharper focus on further strengthening the drivers that have positive impact on local innovation outcomes. Similarly, it is equally important to understand a link between the local innovation activity and local growth so that policy can use this knowledge to achieve the Industrial Strategy objective. Together these can also help with the ambition to raise R&D investment to 2.4% of the GDP. The final date and time for the submission of bids is Monday 18th February 2019 at 14.00.
