Tender description

The Coal Authority is looking for specialist contractors to undertake ground and mine entry stabilisation work by drilling & grouting techniques within the coalfields of Great Britain. The works specification for drilling work will be the relevant schedules within the UK Specification for Ground Investigation, Second edition including additions and amendments. The works specification for grouting work will be the Authority's specific specification for the works in hand, and this work will comply with BS EN 12715:2000 Execution of special geotechnical work - Grouting, and take account of BRE 509 Second edition Stabilising mine workings with PFA grouts - Environmental Code of Practice. The Authority seeks to utilise both suspension and solution grouts in the stabilisation of collapsing ground, mine entries and the infilling of historic coal mine workings. Work can be on land and within properties with open unobstructed access and restricted access requiring specialist plant and equipment to undertake such work. Safe working platforms for plant and labour, designed to span potential collapse zones, will need to be provided as works require. Successful tenderers will enter into a four year framework in accordance with the NEC4 Framework Contract and the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Short Contract and additional Z clauses. The framework will be split into three lots as listed below and tenderers may price for all lots or the lot(s) of their choice. • Lot 1 - Drilling and grouting with unobstructed open access Equipment • Lot 2 - Drilling with restricted height / restricted access Equipment • Lot 3 - Drilling and solution grouting with restricted height / restricted access Equipment The Works required under this Framework will be located throughout the UK's coalfield areas and split across the following five regions. Tenderers may bid for all regions or the region(s) of their choice • Region 1 - Scotland East and West • Region 2 - Cumbria / Northumberland / Co.Durham / Durham / Sunderland / Newcastle • Region 3 - North Wales / Cheshire / Lancashire / Merseyside / North Yorkshire / West Yorkshire • Region 4 - South Yorkshire / Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire / Leicestershire / Staffordshire / Shropshire / West Midlands / Warwickshire / Herefordshire / Worcestershire • Region 5 - Somerset / South Gloucestershire / Bristol / South Wales / Pembrokeshire / North Gloucestershire (Forest of Dean) Additional information: To access the tender documentation tenderers must be registered on to the Authority's eTender portal InBye.
