Tender description

This project represents Phase 2 of a substantial initiative by NUI Galway to develop a commercially viable, modern, appealing and environmentally friendly 471 bed student accommodation on campus. The accommodation will be delivered on a phased basis with the first phase required for immediate fitout on 1.12.2020 to allow for adequate setup in advance of the start of the second semester in January 2021. The second phase will be required for immediate fitout on the 1st April to allow for adequate setup in advance of the summer letting season in May 2021. A single point design team including PSDP has been appointed by NUI Galway (refer to pre-qualification information memorandum) and will be novated to the works contractor at contract award stage. The works contractor will be fully responsible for the completion of the novated design and the construction of the project. The form of contract for the project will be the public. The proposed development will be located (subject to successful receipt of planning) on a green field site north of the existing Corrib village student accommodation (between the bioscience research building and the park and ride facility). The development will consist of the design and construction of 471 no bedspaces, generally arranged in cluster of 4-6 5 en-suite bedrooms, with communal living area in each unit. Further communal areas and facilities, internal plant/service rooms, refuse storage and covered cycle storage facilities are also provided to serve the entire development. A single point design team including PSDP has been appointed by NUI Galway (refer to pre-qualification information memorandum) and will be novated to the works contractor at contract award stage.
