Tender description

The City Council is looking for a supplier or consortium of suppliers to design, implement and operate an electric taxi ‘try-before-you-buy’ service for the Hackney Taxi trade in Oxford. This contract is for the provision of a try-before-you-buy Hackney Carriage rental service. As part of Oxford City Councils’ efforts to improve air quality in Oxford, it is working in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council on proposals to introduce a Zero Emission Zone (ZEZ) in the city. It is also required to take action to address air pollution as set out in the Part IV of the Environment Act 1995. New emissions requirements for hackney carriages were agreed in February 2019: Citywide Hackney Carriages emissions standards will apply from 2020, with a requirement for all vehicles to be ULEV by 2025.
