In order for the GLA Economics team to produce accurate information, it must ensure that it has access to available, credible, and comparative data, to inform the analysis. There are 2 main reasons why the GLA Economics team needs continuous access to external UK regional economic data sources: 1) To use them as inputs for the modelling process employed, in order to produce its forecasts for the London’s economy; and 2) To enable comparison of these forecasts with those of other market specialists (benchmarking). To ensure the integrity and relevance of the data, the GLA economics team currently allocates c. 35 000 GBP for the purchase of 12-month subscriptions. This is spent across 4 suppliers. The type of data required for Greater London and the UK level: A. historic (as old as possible) and medium-term forecast series of the absolute level of Gross Value Added (GVA); B. the number of workforce jobs; C. the level of real household income; and D. the level of real household expenditure.
