Tender description

UK Power Networks would like to engage a project partner to carry out laboratory testing. The objective will be to create heating curves for a tank filled with sulphur hexafluoride gas (SF6) and heated from the inside. SF6 is commonly used in the electrical industry as it has many desirable properties. The scope for the project partner will be to build or procure a test vessel which is as close as possible to the end box of a F35-2 circuit breaker, and run a number of heating tests on it. The project partner must work with our chosen distributed temperature sensing (DTS) supplier who will provide fibre optic temperature sensors. The fibre optic sensors will be used in addition to sensors provided by the supplier. UK Power Networks is looking for an organisation able to deliver a fully-integrated solution able to address the problem described above. The scope is to procure or fabricate a test vessel as described, carry out heat run tests and to write up the results. Vendors are invited to propose innovative solutions to the activities described in Section II 1.4) and VI.3).
