United Utilities Water Limited intend to put in place a framework for the Supply and Delivery of low complexity, chemical free Phosphorus removal technologies suitable for small WwTW’s. The requirement may be fulfilled by the use of reactive media. The framework will cover supply and delivery to the various United Utilities waste water sites across the North West of England that need phosphorus removal/treatment. UU has been looking for alternatives to chemical dosing for Phosphorus removal and has trialed a number of solutions. The solution is required to remove the need to install potable water for chemical make-up and safety equipment associated with chemical dosing, eg. Safety showers. The requirement may be fulfilled by the use of reactive media. Additionally the solution must be chemical free, as this also reduces the requirement for frequent chemical deliveries and sludge export tankering from the site. As the technologies will be used in smaller unmanned locations any solution must have a low maintenance requirement and therefore being passive in nature would be an advantage. Please note this is not a call for competition this is merely pre-market engagement whereby United Utilities wishes to understand what is potentially on offer before commitment is made to any formal procurement process.
