Summary of the work Lead Developer required to provide technical leadership, mentorship and delivery capability to an emerging team in an award-winning transformation programme. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 12 months initial, with an optional 12 months extension Latest start date Monday 1 July 2019 Who Speclialist Work With The existing team is comprised mostly of supplier, contract and Civil Service resources. The specialist will be expected to be embedded into current delivery teams and will be expected to lead a small team. What Specialists Work On Specifically, we seek a Lead Developer with experience of working with Service Oriented Architectures developed with Java and Spring Boot, who is passionate about working in agile environments. Skills & Experience • Have experience of working with and building Java and Spring Boot based microservices • Have experience of working with public cloud technologies (i.e. AWS, Azure) • Have experience of TDD and Unit-Test tooling • Be familiar with JavaScript and best-practice approaches • Be able to mentor and conduct knowledge transfer Nice to Haves • Experience of working with Terraform scripts • Experience of working with TypeScript • Experience of working with MariaDB or MySQL • Experience with CentOS based shell scripting • Experience with Government security control requirements • BPML and Business Process tooling Work Location 1 Pacific Quay, Glasgow - attendance on-site is required for at least four days a week, with one day of optional working from home. Working Arrangments The specialist is expected to be on-site for at least four days a week with one day optional working from home. The specialist will be expected to attend all associated Agile ceremonies and make use of collaborative tooling (Slack, Skype, Google Docs, Confluence, Jira). The specialist will lead a blended team of resources and be expected to provide technical leadership, guidance and knowledge transfer where required. The specialist will adopt current, established ways of working and advise on improving them. The specialist will be pro-active in the delivery of working software Security Clearance SC level clearance is required for this position. Disclosure Scotland will sponsor the SC application process where the specialist does not already have SC level clearance. Is there an Incumbant ? We have developers on the programme via a third party but not for Disclosure Scotland, there is no lead developer. 3. What is the budget for this role ? We are testing the market vale for this role with this requirement therefore no budget has been set . 4. There were a number of questions received yesterday regarding this role - they all related to the same queries - What is IR35Status, what is budget, and is there an incumbant - I have provided a response for these questions. see responses provided. 5. Do you expect the specialist to do substantial development work (writing code) themselves or is this role mostly technical leadership and mentoring? If both, what is the expected balance? It is anticipated about 25% to be hands-on (coding), 40% technical leadership and 35% mentoring
