Islington Council has an in-house repairs team to carry out repairs and maintenance to our housing stock and related assets. The Council is seeking to appoint a single specialist contractor with multi-skilled electricians and engineers to deliver a first class fire detection and protection and emergency lighting service to support the in-house team. The aim of the service is to support the in-house repair team services by providing an efficient and effective fire protection, detection and emergency lighting service. It is aimed at maintaining residential buildings (including estate blocks), community and receptions centre’s installations in a fully efficient and safe working condition by carrying out all necessary testing, servicing and repairs. This will include all types of servicing, testing and repair of the fire protection, detection and emergency lighting equipment, in line with a scheduled programme of works and the cyclical testing maintenance team’s guidance and recommendations. Examples of the equipment work which may be carried out to, under the current arrangements, includes but is not limited to: — extinguishers, — dry risers, — sprinklers, — emergency lighting, — fire alarms. The Council requires a contractor who can provide an efficient, effective, customer focused service, is able to respond to and complete works within the required timescales, and to the required standard to ensure the Council remains compliant with all relevant statutory requirements.
