Highway Structures include: bridges (including footbridges, cycle route bridges, bridleway bridges, accommodation bridges, occupation bridges, swing bridges, subways, underpasses, buried culverts); retaining walls; sign/signal gantries; cantilever road signs; tunnels and which satisfy the dimensional criteria defined in the DMRB Standard BD 63/17 — Inspection of Highway Structures. The purpose of this work package is to bring The Council’s stock of highway bridges and structures up to a standard of inspection that meets or exceeds the risk based interval requirements for Principal Bridge Inspections (PBIs) of Chapter 8 of BD 63/17 — The Inspection of Highway Structures.
