The Removal of Bodies on behalf of HM Senior Coroner for Gloucestershire

Tender description

The procurement will result in a maximum of 1 provider supplying a service for the Removal of bodies across the County of Gloucestershire within the one hour time frame specified. During working hours (08:00AM – 16:00PM Monday to Friday) the provider will bring bodies from the place of death to the Gloucestershire Coroners Court directly. Out of Hours removal (16:00PM – 08:00AM Monday to Friday and all day Bank Holidays Saturday & Sunday will be removed to the contractors establishment and the body stored in appropriate refrigerated store until the next working day when it will be taken to the Gloucestershire Coroners Court to be booked in. However, in some circumstances arrangements may be required and the body may be transported immediately to Gloucestershire Coroners Court. This can include heavily decomposed bodies, those involved in traumatic accidents, those who die in an ambulance on route to a hospital or those that are part of an ongoing Police investigation. The contractor is expected to be directed by the person acting on behalf of the Coroner at the scene. The provider must be available 24 hours a day. 365 days a year and is required to attend the location of the death within the specified time frame. The provider may also be required to transport a body that is outside their normal area of operation (likely to be Bristol, Birmingham or Cardiff). In this situation the provider may claim for additional time and excess mileage incurred. Keywords: Coroner
