Tender description
As part of SSH2 ongoing study, the ESC created a ‘Living Lab’ by extending the trials with previous participants and sourcing new participants where the HESG system was installed and in a small number of suitable properties, Air Sources Heat Pumps were also installed alongside the existing gas boiler to create a hybrid heating system. We are seeking to install additional homes within the Living Lab this year (as listed above) and are seeking a framework for future years installations and ongoing maintenance and support. All of the homes in the Living Lab will require ongoing maintenance and breakdown support for the coming year and future years. It is envisaged that the Living Lab will run for an initial period of 38 weeks, up to 3 years (subject to funding), and possibly longer depending on the nature and type of research that may be undertaken in the future. (a) Carry out pre-trial property survey of the recruited Trialists to ensure suitability of the property and heating facilities confirmed by qualified staff of the supplier, to include an assessment of suitability of boiler, electric meter and general condition of heating system. Produce a scaled and detailed digital technical drawing of the floor plan layout of the property (sketches are not acceptable) an example is in Appendix 3. Ideally the drawing etc should be done via a CAD software and also provided in PDF). The Layout plan requires detailed scaled measurements of all rooms, to determine the correct number of Sensors, Wireless Radiator Valves and, if required, Repeaters for the trial. This is also used to validate details given by the Trialist during recruitment process (previous interviews and questionnaires carried out before), ensuring that any additional minor works that may be required are noted to assist with HESG installation and filter out unsuitable Trialists and or properties based on set criteria. Refer to Scope for further info. The supplier will be required to provide a full maintenance and breakdown service to support the ESC and Trialist to maintain the HESG and where applicable the HP systems. The maintenance and breakdown service is required 7 days per week, 364 days per year. Only the ESC 2nd Line support is authorised to instruct the supplier to attend a ‘Call Out’ and will inform the Supplier of any relevant information to assist in the provision of a prompt and quality support service. Refer to the Scope document for further information. The supplier will remove the HESG equipment/system equipment at the end of the trial. This will require the supplier to de-install the HESG system and replace it with a standard boiler programmer/thermostat and restore the rest of the property to its pre-trial condition. The supplier will guide and help the Trialist to set up the heating schedule before leaving the property. If the Trialist prefers not to install a new programmer, the supplier will restore the property to its original pre-trial conditions. Refer to the scope document for further information. Based upon the results of a property survey carried out by a suitable and competent person from the supplier, the purchase and installation of HP equipment within the selected Trialists property will carried out by suitable trained & experienced installers. This will include the full installation and setup of HP equipment and then integrating this into the HESG system. These heat pumps could be ground source or air source and may also require integration with the existing central heating to create a hybrid heating system. The installation date will be planned and agreed with the Trialist and a fully detailed H&S (CDM) plan with specific RAMs will be created by the supplier and shared with the ESC prior to any works being undertaken for ESC to approve. Refer to scope document for further info.
