Tender description

The Education and Training Foundation have appointed a supplier to work with further education and training providers to deliver collaborative projects looking at how to improve teaching, learning and assessment to increase learner progress. This was part of the wider Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) programme. The OTLA programme draws together the Foundation’s activity to support practitioners to improve and develop their practice. The 2 aims of the OTLA programme include: — improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in the FE and training sector and, — supporting increased professionalism for practitioners in the sector. OTLA is underpinned by the professional standards. The programme is made up of 4 different strands. This tender was for delivery of work in the collaborative projects strand. The Education and Training Foundation awarded a contract for Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment Phase 5. The foundation identified several key problems around progress that impacted on learner outcomes across the sector. Collaborative projects used these problems as a starting point, honing and contextualising them for their own setting and learners, asking themselves the questions, “Does this issue apply to my context?” and “What evidence do I have that is the case?”. In some instances they were able to address more than one problem given their interconnectivity. Projects identified a clear way in which they planned to address their problem, drawing on research. Collaborative projects were not used as a vehicle to implement organisation wide systems or software platforms.
