Tender description

This Prior Information Notice (PIN) follows the earlier PIN issued by the University of Bristol on 9.11.2018, ref. 2018/S 216-493025, to provide an update to the project and programme to appoint a main contractor for the project. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) follows the earlier PIN issued by the University of Bristol on 9.11.2018, ref. 2018/S 216-493025, to provide an update to the project and programme. The earlier PIN was issued to provide advance notification of the University of Bristol’s intention to carry out a procurement exercise for a main contractor for the construction of the new national Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction (SoFSI) Facility at the University’s campus at Langford. The project will include a new building with steel frame superstructure, concrete block walls and timber cladding, and highly reinforced specialist sub-structure including pit walls and strong floor. The building will house a 6m*4m seismic testing table and 5m*6m*4m deep test pit. The facility will also include plant rooms, a covered storage area, external plant, service yard and parking area. The estimated construction budget is in the range 4 000 000 GBP to 6 000 000 GBP, this being dependent on final detailed design (currently underway). The University intends to follow the Restricted procedure under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and a single-stage design and build route. Updates to programme: — issue contract notice and pre-qualification questionnaire (PAS91): 12.4.2019 — return date: 14.6.2019 — university to evaluate responses and agree a shortlist of suppliers to invite to tender: by end June 2019 — pre-tender engagement with shortlisted suppliers: 15.7.2019 — issue invitation to tender: 6.9.2019 — return of ITT’s (8 weeks): 4.11.2019 — evaluate tenders: to late-November 2019 — notify suppliers: December 2019 — appoint successful contractor early January 2020 — 12-month build programme (handover by Spring 2021) Tender documents are not available at this time and will be issued in line with the timelines detailed above via the University’s tender portal https://tenders.bris.ac.uk/ Suppliers are advised to register at the portal in advance at the portal to ensure they are notified and able to immediately access the tender documents when published. There is no requirement for suppliers to respond to this PIN, however suppliers are welcome to register interest via email to aw14701@bristol.ac.uk.
