Tender description

Supply and delivery to the University's 3 Nurseries with 2 meals, 1 delivery per day for approximately 300 children. In addition to 2 meals per day, there will be a list of sundry items that are also ordered by each nursery. The successful supplier will be expected to cater for specific dietary needs such as religious, cultural, food intolerances/allergies, etc. The recently published “Eat Better, Start Better” guidance and the NHS/Startwell guidance for young children’s meals MUST be adhered to. Food must be provided in sealed hot boxes which keep food at the required temperature of 65 degrees or above. We require daily (Monday–Friday) deliveries of hot food to the University’s Elms and Maples Nursery and pre-school with a quality, healthy menu which reflects the season, meets children’s dietary requirements and is changed frequently. The company needs to use locally sourced produce. The company should hold or be working towards the following awards: Good Egg, Sustainable Fish, Red Tractor and other Assured Food Standards. The company must be able to provide evidence of this. A 2-course hot lunchtime meal and a selection of hot and cold teas will be required for between 180–220 children. The successful supplier will be expected to cater for specific dietary needs such as religious, cultural, food intolerances/allergies, etc. The recently published “Eat Better, Start Better” guidance and the NHS/Startwell guidance for young children’s meals must be adhered to. Food must be provided in sealed hot boxes which keep food at the required temperature of 65 degrees or above. Food needs to be portioned per room (14 rooms in total – 6 for The Elms site, 2 at the Maples Nursery) and must be delivered within 2 hours of serving time for hot lunches — currently 11:30 a.m. Delivery to The Elms Nursery involves delivering to both the ground and first floor, ground floor at the Maples. In addition to the hot food and tea there is a requirement to deliver additional food items for daily within the nurseries such as bread, fresh milk, fresh and tinned fruit, margarine, cereals and cheese (list is not exhaustive) at cheaper than supermarket prices. Supplier needs to be consistent and full allergen details need to be supplied. We require daily (Monday–Friday) deliveries of hot food to the University’s The Oaks Nursery and Pre-school unit with a quality, healthy menu which reflects the season, meets children’s dietary requirements and is changed frequently. The company needs to use locally sourced produce. The company should hold or be working towards the following awards: Good Egg, Sustainable Fish, Red Tractor and other Assured Food Standards. The company must be able to provide evidence of this. A 2-course hot lunchtime meal and a selection of hot and cold teas will be required for between 100–130 children. The successful supplier will be expected to cater for specific dietary needs such as religious, cultural, food intolerances/allergies, etc. The recently published “Eat Better, Start Better” guidance and the NHS/Startwell guidance for young children’s meals must be adhered to. Food must be provided in sealed hot boxes which keep food at the required temperature of 65 degrees or above. Food needs to be portioned per room of which there are 4 at The Oaks site with a further 2 at the Oaks pre-school unit and must be delivered within 2 hours of serving time for hot lunches — currently 11:30 a.m. Delivery to The Oaks Nursery involves delivering to the main building and the separate self-contained Pre-School unit nearby. In addition to the hot food and tea there is a requirement to deliver additional food items for daily within the nurseries such as bread, fresh milk, fresh and tinned fruit, margarine, cereals and cheese (list is not exhaustive) at cheaper than supermarket prices. Supplier needs to be consistent and full allergen details need to be supplied.
