Construction work for university buildings

Tender description

The University of Exeter is proposing a new post-graduate research and teaching building, it is to be known as “Project North Park”. It is a key part of the University’s Streatham Campus Masterplan Framework and a project that signals the University’s global ambition. It will be the largest single infrastructure investment the University has made on its Streatham Campus to date and will enable the University to further its reputation as a centre of world class education and research. By providing space and facilities to host events and support activities that encourage engagement with research and teaching themes, the building will offer an environment of creativity and engagement for diverse disciplines, communities and audiences across the city, the wider region, nationally and globally. The project will be designed to BIM level 2, BREEAM Excellent and be procured via the EU Restricted procedure using a single stage design and build approach. The selection questionnaire is scheduled to be issued in early April 2019. Form of Contract for the project shall be NEC 4. Contractors interested in tendering for the project should register on the University's eTendering portal — https://uk.eu-supply.com/login.asp?B=EXETER The building’s Gross Internal Area (GIA) is currently expected to be between 9 500-13 300 m2 (GIA) with the net construction value of approximately 44 000 000 depending on which design option is selected. The project has recently completed RIBA Stage 1 with Aecom acting as lead consultant developing the scheme with Hopkins Architects as their project architect. All other major design roles are fulfilled by Aecom.
