Tender description

The University of Edinburgh invites bids for the upgrade of its facilities at the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the Edinburgh Bioquarter, 5 Little France Drive, Edinburgh, EH16 4UU. This involves inter alia the removal of a tunnel washer; installation of a cagewasher and associated pit; a cage change robot; a dirty bedding disposal system; a fresh bedding dispenser; relocation of a bottle washing system; a VHP decontamination chamber; installation, commissioning and validation of all equipment; and all minor works associated with the siting and installation of the equipment and renovation of flooring etc., for removed items. A single contractor will be appointed to provide all equipment requirements and deliver the minor works associated with the project. The contract comprises Equipment and Minor Works. The equipment elements are: — cage washer, — cage change robot, — dirty bedding disposal, — VHP decontamination chamber, — fresh bedding dispenser, — installation, commissioning and validation. The equipment and all associated Minor Works relating to its removal, replacement and installation and any refurbishment / reinstatement work on the Biomedical Research Facility must be provided by a single contractor. The Minor works, to be part of the single contractor's remit comprises: — removal of the existing tunnel washer and appropriate disposal, — removal of a partition wall adjacent to existing dirty corridor, — provision of a waste area to accommodate large wheelie bins, — relocation of the current bottle washer processing unit, — creation of a new pit and drain for the new cage washer, — removal and transfer of the existing LAF cabinet to CBS storage facilities, — provision of new floor drains without compromising the existing waterproof floor membrane, — re-routing, capping off, the provision of new electrical and mechanical services for new and relocated items of equipment, — those responsible for carrying out the minor works and decommissioning, removing, installing and commissioning equipment shall be required to pay particular attention to mitigation of noise and vibration, as well as Biological containment of the works area to protect adjacent animal facilities, — works may need to take place over weekends and out-with normal work hours. NB: All of the equipment and the minor works required for the SCRM BRF Wash up Area, shall be presented as a Single Lot i.e. a single contractor will be responsible for arranging the supply of the equipment and the minor works.
