Tender description

HCC is undertaking a project to assess the impact of pro-active health planning strategies in different sheep and beef production systems on the performance of the red meat sector in Wales. This project will develop and assess new engagement strategies and explore the effectiveness of new approaches in relation to animal health planning and production efficiency to strengthen the competitiveness and long-term viability of the Welsh red meat sector. HCC requires a tenderer to provide a fully managed service for the delivery of veterinary services to undertake flock and herd health planning activity for farms participating in the project. The tender is divided into two lots based on the following geographic areas: Lot 1: North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Clwyd); Lot 2: South and Mid Wales (Powys, Gwent, Mid, South and West Glamorgan, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire). Tenderers may apply for one or both lots. Each lot will be marked separately The services required are: — maintaining dialogue with the HCC project team throughout the project to ensure efficient and timely delivery of the project requirements, — managing resources across the relevant geographic area, ensuring that systems and structures are in place to distribute work required for the flock and herd health project to individual vets, — providing administrative and coordination support to the project in order to ensure that paperwork and activity records are received on time and to the correct standard, — organising and undertaking veterinary visits to draw up health plans and actions required to farms, — coordinating invoicing to pay for veterinary review visits undertaken, — ensuring all veterinary surgeons undertaking farm visits have the appropriate qualifications and necessary experience in flock and herd health plans, — dealing with any issues that arise relating to the delivery of veterinary services for the project and implementing any changes that may needed, — providing personnel with required expertise to participate in knowledge transfer events for farmers involved in the project incorporating sheep and cattle health issues identified through the project, — maintaining accurate records of visits and providing summary reports on the delivery of the service as requested.
