Tender description

An independent review of the Sheffield Tram-Train project was requested of DFT officials the 15 December 2017 Public Accounts Committee report into the project following the 4 July 2017 investigation published by the National Audit Office. The project has seem a cumulative increase in costs of over 400% to £75.1 million against the original budget of £15 million agreed in May 2012. It has also experienced a delay of 2.5 years. As a pilot project with the purpose of testing the issues, costs and opportunities of introducing the tram-train concept to the UK, the PAC asked DFT and Network Rail officials what long-term strategic lessons have been learnt from this. Procurement of consultancy is required to meet this recommendation.
