Tender description

The invitation to tender is for the delivery of a suite of peat restoration capital works on upland blanket bog sites within the South Pennines SAC. The invitation to tender covers the supply and delivery of materials, as well as the installation of the works on site. 1) The objective of the contract is to deliver a suite of works on 2 upland sites in the South Pennines SAC. The aim of the works is to stabilise and revegetate bare peat, restore hydrology, and increase biodiversity on the sites. 2) The works comprise the following tasks: 2.1) Supply and delivery of materials required to complete the works, unless otherwise stated; 2.2) Appropriate storage of materials, as necessary; 2.3) Forwarding of materials and equipment required to complete the works to and within works sites; 2.4) Installation of 500 peat dams into gullies; 2.5) 266 m of re-profiling of gully sides; 2.6) Installation of 8 baffles into gullies; 2.7) Installation of between 3400 to 3550 heather bales into gullies and peat pans; 2.8) Spreading of heather brash on approximately 7 hectares of bare peat; 2.9) Spreading of lime, seed, and fertiliser over approximately 7 ha; 2.10) Cutting, flailing and/or windrowing of 17 ha of vegetation; 2.11) Removal of waste materials from work sites.
